As an inquisitive child, the seeds for a love of travel, culture, history, science, and archaeology were planted. On May 7, 1999, I decided to combine those interests into a business --- Bentley Travel Services. Since 1999, I have used my interests and skills as a scientific researcher to make travel dreams a reality. These skills and interests have allowed me to be a successful business owner and travel advisor for 24+ years. I not only arrange the details needed to travel to a destination but advise you on sightseeing activities, cultural and heritage experiences, and any other nuances based on your personal interests. Your trips are designed to enhance your life in a myriad of ways.
As a life-long learner I have continued my education, training, and professional memberships in the travel industry to better serve you. I am a Certified Travel Associate (CTA), Accredited Cruise Counselor (ACC), Certified Meeting and Event Planner (CMP), and a Certified Master Heritage Specialist. I also have a Certificate of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM).
With 23+ years in the travel business, I have numerous memories but here are a few of my all-time favorites: Safari and Wine & Chocolate tours near Cape Town, South Africa; visiting a museum that highlights the African Diaspora in Curacao in the Caribbean; Black Paris Tour in Paris, France; Rastafarian Indigenous Village in Jamaica, Glacier hike in Iceland, visiting archaelogical sites in Rome, Greece & and Chichen itza, delicious food walking tours in Barcelona, Spain and Naples, Italy.
I started in the hospitality industry as a destination wedding specialist handling all aspects of wedding planning, from save-the-date to the wedding day. To round out my services as a wedding event planner, I decided to add honeymoon planning to my services. I began working in the travel industry in 2017 and joined Bentley Travel Services as a travel advisor in 2019. As a travel advisor with Bentley Travel Services, I not only continue my services as a wedding planner but also as a leisure travel advisor.
One of my favorite travel experiences was a 7-day cruise onboard Holland America’s Nieuw Amsterdam. The ports of call were Puerto Rico, Turks and Caicos, Holland America’s private island Half Moon Cay and St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. This trip was a foodie’s paradise. The culinary experience onboard included demonstrations by a chef from America’s Test Kitchen, daily high tea, and the Tamarind Asian Restaurant. The Tamarind Asian Restaurant has a menu inspired by the four elements: earth, wind, fire, and wood. On shore I savored Mojitos at an outdoor café in San Juan, enjoyed world famous banana daiquiris at a place called Mountain Top. This location is on the highest part of St. Thomas with stunning panoramic views of the island. For lunch, I enjoyed to the fullest oxtails at Glady's Café in downtown St. Thomas.
Bentley Travel Services was established May 7, 1999. My foray into the Travel Industry began that day as the company’s back office and editor of our newsletter (The DreamCatcher). At that time, I was not sure how travel would complement my science profession. I only knew that I wanted Bentley Travel Services to be a success. So, 23+ years later, I have traveled to some amazing places, earned destination certifications for many countries, and incorporated some fun science-related sightseeing into my travels.
My three favorite destinations and tours have been a Safari near Cape Town, South Africa; an archaeological site on the island of Delos, Greece; and the Sea Turtle Conservancy on the island of Nevis in the Caribbean.
