As an inquisitive child, the seeds for a love of travel, culture, history, science, and archaeology were planted. On May 7, 1999, I decided to combine those interests into a business --- Bentley Travel Services. Since 1999, I have used my interests and skills as a scientific researcher to make travel dreams a reality. These skills and interests have allowed me to be a successful business owner and travel advisor for 25+ years. I not only arrange the details needed to travel to a destination but advise you on sightseeing activities, cultural and heritage experiences, and any other nuances based on your personal interests. Your trips are designed to enhance your life in a myriad of ways.
As a life-long learner I have continued my education, training, and professional memberships in the travel industry to better serve you. I am a Certified Travel Associate (CTA), Accredited Cruise Counselor (ACC), Certified Meeting and Event Planner (CMP), and a Certified Master Heritage Specialist. I also have a Certificate of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM).
With 25 years in the travel business, I have numerous memories but here are a few of my all-time favorites: Safari and Wine & Chocolate tours near Cape Town, South Africa; visiting a museum that highlights the African Diaspora in Curacao in the Caribbean; Black Paris Tour in Paris, France; Rastafarian Indigenous Village in Jamaica, Glacier hike in Iceland, visiting archaelogical sites in Rome, Greece, Esphesus, & Chichen itza, delicious food walking tours in Barcelona, Spain and Naples, Italy, and a cooking class in Rome.
Bentley Travel Services was established on May 7, 1999. My foray into the Travel Industry began that day as the company’s back office. At that time, I was not sure how travel would complement my science profession. I only knew that I wanted Bentley Travel Services to be a success. So, years later, I have traveled to some amazing places, earned destination certifications for many countries, and incorporated some fun science-related sightseeing into my travels. My three favorite destinations and tours have been a Safari near Cape Town, South Africa; visiting an archaeological site in Delos, Greece; and the Sea Turtle Conservancy on the island of Nevis in the Caribbean.
I started in the hospitality industry as an independent destination wedding specialist handling all aspects of wedding planning. To round out my services, I joined Bentley Travel Services as a leisure travel advisor. One of my favorite travel experiences was a 7-day cruise onboard Holland America’s Nieuw Amsterdam. The ports of call were Puerto Rico, Turks and Caicos, Holland America’s private island Half Moon Cay, and St. Thomas, USVI. The culinary experience onboard included demonstrations by chefs, daily high tea, and the Tamarind Asian Restaurant with a menu inspired by the four elements: earth, wind, fire, and wood. On shore I savored Mojitos at an outdoor café in San Juan, enjoyed banana daiquiris and stunning panoramic views of St. Thomas, and enjoyed to the fullest oxtails at a downtown café. This trip was truly a foodie’s paradise.
I have a ton of experience in science sales and marketing. I am also the spouse of a military officer (ret). For more than 12 years, my passion for African American cultural history has been realized by doing some fun things as a museum docent in the metropolitan Washington, DC area. I bring these experiences and my passion for learning about places and meeting people from all over the world to Bentley Travel Services. It’s an exhilarating experience to learn about historical places and people; it is even better to have an immersive experience by visiting those places! One of my favorite trips was to Akumal, Mexico. This was an amazing opportunity to relax, be pampered at the spa, and be educated about the history of the indigenous people. It was an extra treat to learn about the sea turtles and the conservation program at the resort. The food was excellent, abundant, and something for any culinary palate. The blue water of Akumal Bay, the white-sand beach, the lush landscaping, and the tranquil gardens were all a vision of paradise. The onsite entertainment was excellent, and the people were so welcoming. I’d pack my bags and do it again in a heartbeat!
